DUNNIE'S
LAMENT
Her horse's address to the crowd at Glenwood 7-6-08
Hey people! My name is Dunnie and I am quite used to being the center of
attention; at times I have even "acted up" to gain some extra notice. Today,
however, I am feeling a little strange because my better half is not here to
reign me in. Actually, she was the biggest part of our team and when I
followed her cues we were practically unbeatable. I got a lot of attention
with her riding me, and truth be told, it was mostly her. And why not; with
all of her grace, balance, and poise; all of her outfits were so gorgeous;
and she was an elegant beauty with her cute, short, spikey haircut that who
could help but notice us?
Now I fear she has left me. She went to a jumping show in Fargo about 3
weeks ago to ride and work with one of my pasture mates. My barn buddy came
back but I never saw my lovely lady again. A great sadness has come over me.
Sometimes at feeding time, I sense her stroking my neck, rubbing my cheeks,
and whispering gentle words of affection in my ear. I turn my head but she
is not there. I do not understand what has happened and I fear I shall never
see her again.
What am I supposed to do? I do not know if I will be able to find another
rider with whom I can share my love and who loved me so completely in spite
of all my faults.
I look forward to feeding time every evening because I know that she will
be there to comfort me. She was such a huge part of my life. I miss her
dearly and I know that all of you miss her as well.
Farewell my lovely lady!
Affectionately,
CRUISIN' DUNNIT
Your Dunnie
